The Lithuanian mobile operator will only sell its 5G devices, as it transitions its home broadband customers to the new technology.
Bite says its 5G devices will provide speeds that are up to 10x faster than the existing 4G home broadband equipment. It also says 5G will open up the services and applications that weren’t possible on 4G.
Apart from the speed increase, Bite’s 5G routers will also reduce latency to around 10 ms (down from 20-30 ms in 4G). It says this will lead to improvements when playing video games or watching TV.
Bite says users still using its older 4G routers will not notice a difference and they will continue to be able to use the internet.
