With funding from the European Commission, Telia will build 5G networks at five locations in Sweden.
The Swedish mobile operator will establish networks and lead digitalization projects at an agricultural test bed in Ultuna, Luleå Port, Boden Industrial Park and Skellefteå Smart City. The projects will explore digital innovations for sustainable agriculture, transport, logistics, port safety and traffic management in cities
€3 million of funding for these projects will be funded by the European Commission through its Connecting Europe Facility Digital (CEF digital) programme. Telia is working on these projects in collaboration with several partners, including RISE, a Swedish state-owned research institute that collaborates with universities, industry and the public sector.
“The new EU funds pave the way for decisive investments in 5G in several important areas, where we gather representatives from the private sector, the public sector and academia in strong ecosystems and partnerships,” says Head of Strategy and Innovation at Telia Sweden’s B2B business Magnus Leonhardt.
