Latvia auctions more 3.6 GHz band spectrum

An additional 50 MHz has been assigned to local operators Tele2 and LMT.

Latvia’s Public Utilities Commission (SPRK) announced the completion of the auction, which generated a total of €550,000 in revenue.

Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) paid EUR 275,000 for 3750-3775 MHz block. Tele2 paid an equal amount for the 3775-3800 MHz block.

The licences start on 1 January 2024 and will be valid for 20 years. Both operators plan to use the spectrum for 5G.

SPRK has previously awarded spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band. It was first awarded 3.6 GHz band spectrum in November 2017, and later in 2018. This award will boost the operators’ existing spectrum holdings in the band.
