Telia Lithuania has announced that it has installed over 250 base stations before the country completes its 5G auction.
The new base stations support all generations of mobile technology as well as 5G. Telia plans on providing commercial 5G services as soon as it has purchased the required spectrum at the country’s auction.
Telia, which has been carrying out tests of 5G since 2018, says the Communications Regulatory Authority will announce an auction for the 700MHz spectrum band in the next few weeks. Following this auction, the operator plans on rolling out 5G.
Lithuania is only one of two EU countries that have yet to launch commercial 5G services.
