The operator also says almost 230,000 Telia customers now use 5G-supported phones.
Telia says it has installed more than 500 5G base stations, including 175 new base stations so far in 2023. It claims densifying its 5G network is one of its main priorities as it plans to reach 95% of the Estonian population by the end of 2024.
Telia is using different frequency ranges for its 5G network, namely the 700 MHz, 2.1 GHz, 3.6 GHz and 26 GHz bands. It says using a mix of frequencies with unique propagation characteristics will result in a high-quality network.
The volume of mobile data using Telia’s 5G network is also growing exponentially. Data consumption has grown 3x since the start of the year.
