The service will use recently acquired spectrum from the country’s 5G auctions.
Tele2 has activated 5G base stations in the capital city of Vilnius using spectrum licences it acquired in the 700 MHz and 3.6 GHz bands. The operator says it will soon expand its service to other major cities.
As previously announced, Tele2 is using Nokia 5G equipment for both the Radio Access Network (RAN) and the core of their network. As part of its spectrum licence, the operator is obliged to provide 5G services to at least one major city by 2023.
