Taiwanese operator Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) says it expects its 5G network to reach 90% of the island’s population by the end of this year.
APT is planning a total of 9,500 5G base stations by the end of 2021 as part of a deal to share infrastructure with rival EasTone.
The move comes after the country’s competition watchdog approved the 5G infrastructure co-sharing proposal between the two companies earlier this month.
