Spain to reserve part of 26 GHz band for private networks

The Spanish competition regulator CNMC has published a draft law which proposes reserving spectrum for private networks.

The law proposed by CNMC suggests changes to Spain’s frequency allocation table. The proposal suggests reserving 450 MHz of the band for private networks. It’s not yet clear how this spectrum will be awarded.

A 26 GHz auction for nationwide mobile operators is expected by the end of this year. The Spanish spectrum regulator MINECO is still consulting on auction terms and the reserve prices for the award.
