The mobile operator is hoping to bring 5G standalone (SA) to these towns by the end of the first half of 2023.
Orange says it’s increasing the pace of its SA deployment, after initially launching the service in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla and Valencia. It claims that by the end of June, 30% of Spain’s population will have access to what it calls 5G+, supported by standalone 5G.
Orange says 5G SA provides various benefits over regular 5G, including improved indoor coverage, low latency, longer battery life, greater number of connected devices and greater security. The operator says the rollout of 5G SA will not be accompanied by a price increase for its subscribers.
