The network will provide coverage of the entire port with both land and sea coverage.
Orange says it developed a 5G Standalone (SA) virtual private network for the port of Barcelona which will offer advanced mobility services for the port. The operator says an investment of €3.6 million was needed for the project, which involved the expansion of existing infrastructure.
Orange says the port will benefit from reliable communications, ultra-low latency and high capacity network. Over 500 companies that operate in the port will be able to use the infrastructure.
“We are the first operator in Spain to launch a 5G SA commercial network (which we call 5G+), and this project is an excellent example of the new and advanced services that this network can provide,” says Joaquín Colino, Orange’s B2B general manager.
