Orange expands partnership with Google Cloud

The company says it has expanded its agreements to advance its deployment of artificial intelligence.

Orange says it will bring artificial intelligence, including generative AI closer to its customer’s operations. It will do this using Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), a fully managed hardware and software solution that brings the power of Google’s AI services to the Edge.

Orange says GDC will enable the company to take a pivotal step towards accelerating AI adoption into its operations across the 26 countries it serves.

The company will use GDC in three main areas. The first is to help run sensitive network data and AI workloads. These are sometimes required to be operated locally by some countries, which means edge computing will be particularly useful.

Secondly, it will allow Orange to run generative AI models on-premises which will benefit the company’s operations and customer service teams to get the answers they need faster. Finally, Orange says it will leverage GDC to deliver personalized recommendations to its customers for relevant phones, plans, and services.

“This partnership with Google Cloud and the cutting-edge solutions announced today are foundational to Orange achieving AI at scale and is a major step towards unlocking significant value from all of our data,” says Orange CEO Christel Heydemann.
