Mobile operators Jio and Airtel have begun rolling out 5G in select cities.
Following the completion of India’s 5G spectrum auction in August, mobile operators have begun a phased launch of their 5G services.
Airtel says it will launch 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. Meanwhile, Jio says it has begun testing its 5G services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi.
Airtel says its customers will initially be able to use 5G speeds at no additional cost, while Jio has launched a “true 5G” welcome offer with unlimited data and speeds up to 1 Gbps.
