Taiwanese mobile operator FarEasTone and Ericsson have announced that they have successfully completed a network slicing trial.
The trial was carried out on FarEasTone’s standalone infrastructure built on Ericsson’s radio access network and cloud-native core network. It was described by Ericcson as a “breakthrough in network slicing capabilities on a 5G standalone network.”
The trial involved connecting a single device to multiple network slices. Notably, the device in the trial was running a commercial release of Android 12.
Ericsson said in a press release that the trial “[…] paves the way for further ecosystem development.”
