It will deploy 5G on the border of the Czech Republic and Poland.
Called the BALTCOR5G initiative, the project is funded by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility Digital Programme (CEF Digital). It will be carried out by Towerlink Poland (part of Cellnex Poland group) and the Czech CETIN a.s. (part of CETIN Group).
Cellnex says it will deploy the project over the next three years up until 2026. The companies will deploy dedicated telecommunication infrastructure – both passive and active – for areas with no or very limited 5G coverage.
Several sites will be deployed both in Poland and the Czech Republic along the 125 km A1 Road corridor in the cross-border regions between the cities of Częstochowa and Ostrava. The project will also test various 5G mobility use cases, including the installation of sensors and HD cameras to analyse road traffic.
“We are proud to be able to provide support to the European roadmap to provide continuous and quality connectivity of cross-border road networks,” says Santiago Argelich Hesse, CEO of Cellnex Poland.
