5G auction is delayed due to a disagreement between federal and regional governments
Belgian regulator (BIPT, Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunications) granted 40 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band each to Proximus, Telenet and Orange, and the same amount to network providers Cegeka and Entropia.
Due to the delay in assigning 5G spectrum caused by a disagreement between federal and regional governments, the BIPT announced in February 2020, proposals to grant temporary licences to enable an initial rollout of 5G services. These temporary licences will remain valid until the 5G auction.
