A total of eight new projects will be funded in various fields.
The Belgian government has announced the winners of its 5G pilot project tender. This is the country’s second 5G tender after it awarded €20 million to 21 pilot projects last year.
The projects cover a wide range of domains, such as industry, health, maritime, and public safety. They aim to demonstrate how 5G can enable new solutions and services that can improve efficiency, safety, sustainability, and quality of life.
Examples of projects include a project called 5G-SafeAlert, which will use speed, acceleration and direction data from both cyclists and motorized traffic to mark possible incident risks and send out warnings to drivers.
A further project called 5G HEALTH will focus on testing, implementing and sharing valuable 5G use cases in a real hospital environment, including remote healthcare and training.
