ARCEP launched a public consultation on 5G spectrum allocation methods and conditions
The French NRA ARCEP launched a public consultation on 5G spectrum (3.4-3.8 GHz , 26 GHz , 1.4 GHz ) allocation methods and conditions at the end of October 2018.
Views and needs from all players including operators, equipment vendors, local authorities, vertical markets and all interested parties are expected by 19 December 2018. A second consultation will be held on the call or calls for tender. The call for tenders could be issued in mid-2019.
ARCEP is open to new methods and conditions to help foster new models and bolster innovation. Consultation questions deal with:
• 5G performance and applications enabled by 5G
• Requirements of the different types of player
• Type of contents of future licences, notably the coverage obligations or obligations to meet vertical markets’ needs
• Quantity of spectrum available by band and the allocation timetable
The public consultation can be read here (only in French).
