Three operators qualify for Hungary’s 32 GHz auction

The regulator is awarding the band in an effort to clear the 26 GHz band for 5G use.

Hungary’s National Media & Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has confirmed that Magyar Telekom, CETIN Hungary and Vodafone Hungary have been registered for the upcoming 32 GHz auction.

Currently, the 24.5–26.5 GHz band is used by fixed point-to-point and point-to-multipoint systems, with some licences scheduled to expire in 2024, and the majority of them in 2027.

NMHH hopes that current users of the 26 GHz band will migrate to the 32 GHz band. This would free up the 26 GHz band for 5G use.
