Telenor Sweden launches new private 5G services

Together with Nokia, the mobile operator is offering private network and network-slicing products.

Telenor is targeting enterprise customers with these new services. The company says its solution can be scaled to match the needs of individual businesses.

Apart from just offering a 5G connection, Telenor says its private network offering can be used to position equipment, conduct video surveillance alarms or provide communication services for the mining industry.

Telenor is also offering network slicing, a new capability enabled by 5G SA which allows telecoms operators to create separate and isolated networks for different use cases. Each slice can be configured differently. As they are isolated from each other, the performance of one would not impact another.

Telenor says this solution is suitable for customers who do not want to build dedicated network infrastructure or require coverage over a large area.
