The experiment used the VISION-S prototype car developed by Sony.
The trial took place in Vodafone’s 5G Mobility Lab in Aldenhoven, Germany. The VISION-S electric vehicle was remotely controlled by a “driver” located in Tokyo.
The car was connected to Vodafone’s 5G network which provided high data speeds and extremely low latency.
Vodafone says it hopes this trial will contribute to making remote-controlled vehicles easy to use and safe. Vodafone says it plans to conduct more trials in its mobility lab in the coming weeks.
