A new Dell’Oro Group report suggests that despite its small size, the private RAN market is growing.
While revenue is rising in the private sector, the market is still small compared to the wider RAN market. Dell’Oro says private wireless makes up just 2% of the overall market.
The numbers were released as part of Dell’Oro’s April 2024 Private Wireless Report. According to the report, the top private RAN suppliers in 2023 were Huawei, Nokia and Ericsson. When excluding the Chinese market, the top suppliers were Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung.
“Private wireless is now growing at a formidable pace,” says Dell’Oro Group Vice President Stefan Pongratz. “Although public RAN is still fueling the lion’s share of the overall RAN capex and the overall investment levels are tracking below some of the initial projections provided by the vendors in the early part of the 5G enterprise hype cycle.”
