A new report by ABI Research suggests the sector will see significant market growth.
ABI Research predicts that by 2027, 5G FWA will see growth of 14% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) between 2023 and 2029. The firm says 5G FWA will account for 45% of the total subscription base by 2029.
“As the demand for a more connected world continues to grow, the performance and efficiency of FWA technology remain a key driver in bridging the connectivity divide, providing high-speed, reliable internet access in both the enterprise and consumer markets,” says Larbi Belkhit, 5G, 6G, and Open RAN Research Analyst.
The firm points to operators like Reliance Jio in India, which has committed to reaching 100 million 5G FWA-connected premises in the country. In late 2023, Jio said that it had achieved 50% year-on-year growth in its FWA subscriber base. Jio is India’s largest MNO, with 440 million subscribers. The company has already launched its 5G networks in 6,000 towns and cities across India.
