This figure has increased by about 66 since Q2, with a 60-40 split between LTE and 5G deployment technologies.
The Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) estimates that 955 companies and government organisations have deployed at least one LTE or 5G network.
GSA said that the growth is being driven by businesses’ need for data security and digitisation. The highest number of deployments are in the US, Germany, China, the UK and Japan, with the mining, defence and peacekeeping, and manufacturing sectors seeing the most growth in private networks.
The GSA says the growth in private 5G is being driven by “the spiralling data, security, digitalisation and enterprise mobility requirements of modern business and government entities”.
