The country has now awarded 2 out of 3 pioneer 5G spectrum bands.
Estonian regulator, the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA) has confirmed the winners of its 700 MHz auction. Elisa, Tele2 and Telia Estonia all purchased two 2 x 5 MHz licences in the band. The auction raised a total of €6.12 million.
The auction saw only three rounds of bidding with each operator paying close to the reserve price of €2 million. Winning bidders will need to cover 50% of all counties within two years and 95% within four years. Certain areas are excluded from this obligation due to restrictions on Russian television broadcasting.
Estonia completed its 3.6 GHz auction in August. The country has now awarded the majority of pioneer bands. TTJA has not yet announced plans to award the 26 GHz band.
