The Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting & Telecoms (RTR) says the award raised nearly €25 million.
In the 26 GHz band, a total of 8 blocks of 200 MHz were made available. Both A1 Telekom and T-Mobile won two blocks in the band, both paying around €4.6m, while Hutchinson won three blocks for €6.9m. Licences will be valid until 31.12.2046.
RTR says although the 26 GHz licences were awarded on a national level, they will be most useful in covering high-capacity hotspots and industrial networks.
Meanwhile, spectrum awarded in the 3.6 GHz band was leftover from the country’s 2019 5G auction. A total of seven regional blocks were made available. A1 Telekom won four regional licences for €2.6m while T-Mobile won three licences for €5.9m. These frequencies will be valid until 31.12.2039.
Both spectrum bands include coverage obligations. A full overview of the winning bids can be found here.
