AT&T has begun rolling out 5G services in the country using the 2.5 GHz band.
The carrier says the network will initially be limited to the Cuauhtémoc and the Napoles districts in Mexico City, but it plans to expand this in the next few years.
A spokesperson said “In the next three years, we will deploy 5G in the main markets of the country, starting with the most important cities”.
As Mexico hasn’t yet awarded 5G target frequencies, the network relies on the 2.5 GHz band. Mexico’s auction of 5G frequencies is due to take place next year.
