The French Frequency Agency approved 65 additional trial 5G sites
The French Frequency Agency (Agence Nationale des Fréquences, ANFr) approved 65 additional trial 5G base transceiver stations in the 3.5GHz band in July 2019. The total authorised 5G sites in the country are now 273. Orange is doing fifth-generation technology trials at 191 sites, followed by Bouygues (57) and Altice France (SFR, 25).
The monthly increase is almost exclusively due to Orange (+61). According to the ANFr monthly observatory, Free Mobile has not lighted 5G sites yet.
In June 2019, ARCEP released its plans on terms and conditions related to the 3.4 to 3.8 GHz band (3490 – 3800 MHz) spectrum allocation in a public consultation to close on September 4, 2019.
