Elisa launches 5G standalone subscription in Finland

Elisa will initially offer 5G standalone services for businesses and will eventually expand the service to consumers.

Elisa says it is the first operator in the country to launch a 5G standalone (SA) subscription. The operator says SA services have up to 50% less delay, and device batteries last up to 20% longer.

5G SA will initially be made available to corporate customers, particularly those that require strict operational reliability. Elisa says it will also provide a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service that uses network slicing to provide greater reliability. In May this year, Elisa’s SA service will be expanded to consumers.

“We have mapped out Finnish companies’ needs for the way they use their subscriptions, and many companies already require more stable connections. At Elisa, we believe it’s important to be a pioneer – and one that our customers can trust to always provide them with the best possible technologies to use with our particularly high-quality network connections”, says Petteri Svensson, Director of Mobile business in Elisa’s Corporate Business.
