  • All major national operators have now launched 5G services including WindTre, TIM, Vodafone, Iliad and Fastweb.
  • Italy’s 5G spectrum auction took place in 2018. It awarded spectrum in the 700 MHz, 3.6 GHz and 26 GHz bands.
  • In 2022, the Italian government announced a 5G infrastructure programme funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Under this proposal, a joint venture between Italian mobile operators Vodafone and TIM has won six lots of funding with a combined value of €345 million.
