Eir became the second mobile operator to launch a 5G network in Ireland after Vodafone

Eir became the second mobile operator to launch a 5G network in Ireland. Vodafone launched 5G earlier in August 2019. In early November 2019, Eir launched in 10 towns and cities including Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford as well as Carlow, Castlebar, Dundalk, Drogheda and Kilkenny. The operator expects its 5G network to be available in a total of 20 towns and cities by early 2020.

Eir initially offers four compatible devices, including the Samsung S10 5G, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G and the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G.

Two 5G plans are on sale. The ‘eir mobile connect plus’ tariff, is the less expensive price plan. It is charged at 59 EUR per month and offers unlimited domestic calls, texts and data, as well as 100 international minutes and texts. The ‘eir mobile complete’ tariff and is charged at 69 EUR per month, 10 EUR more than the ‘eir mobile connect plus’ plan for 500 additional international minutes and texts (600 international minutes and texts).
