5G launch by Telenor Norway in March 2020

Telenor plans to light a total of 8,500 base stations throughout the country

Telenor Norway opened up its first 5G pilots respectively in Kongsberg early in November 2018 and in Elverum in September 2019. The operator finally launched 5G commercial services in eight domestic cities including Kongsberg, Elverum, Bodo, Askvoll, Fornebu, Kvitfjell, Spikersuppa (Oslo) and Trondheim. Longyearbyen in the Svalbard archipelago will be lighted up in the coming weeks. Telenor plans to launch 5G services in the capital town Oslo and in Bergen, Stavanger and Sandnes by the end of 2020. In 2021, the player expects to extend its network and upgrade 2,000 base stations. Within the next four years, Telenor plans to light a total of 8,500 base stations throughout the country. The player uses the Ericsson’s 5G RAN.  Price plans are not available on the Telenor’s website yet.
